Cell phone use may fight Alzheimer’s Disease

There’s been a lot of talk about possible health concerns related to cell phone use.
Now, researchers at the University of South Florida have uncovered an actual health benefit.
“Usually there’s a contradiction down the road, like it’s bad for you and then it’s good for you so ... but I am surprised that it could possibly be good for you,“ a Miami resident said.
USF researchers exposed dozens of mice to cell phone signals two hours a day for seven to nine months.
In mice genetically programed to develop Alzheimer’s, memory and thinking skills were protected. Memory impairment disappeared in mice with symptoms.
Harmful amyloid plaques that develop in the brain were erased.
It’s exciting to University of Miami Neurologist Dr. Richard Isaacson.
“So any evidence, even from mice, is promising. I think still a ton of work needs to be done, but at least it does show a glimmer of hope for some new treatment,“ Dr. Isaacson said.
This is the second study in a month giving cell phone users reassuring findings.
“In December 2009 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, it showed a very large study that followed 60-thousand individuals over quite a long period of time, five to ten years, and this study showed no increased incidence of brain cancer,“ Dr. Isaacson said.
In this study, researchers found no abnormal growth in the brains of alzheimer’s mice exposed to cell phone waves. And normal mice, even they had a boost in memory.
But don't forget those brain tumors, will you? (comment by katyzzz)
