Name dropping for computer illiterates - or becoming computer savvy.
June 24th 2007 23:39
So you want to impress those around you? The gentle art of name dropping should get you up and running.
At the party, start by saying " so what's on our delicious menu to-day."
Don't expect a food response. These people eat and drink but when it comes to party conversation they are so finely tuned in to computer and internet technology that a talk-fest based on food will never get off the ground.
Fortunately, if you've had any experience with Orble you'll know what del.icio.us is.
Just click those little buttons at the end of posts and you'll get a quick run through of stuff that includes del.icio.us.
But, back to the party, whatever the "geeks" response turn it round to enquire of Google's next anticipated bid. Mention technorati, then just leave it up to your geek, keep your ears tuned, nod agreeably to his every drop of pearled wisdom and no more will be required of you. But you will pick up a lot of jargon and in the course of an evening, with several such conversations, your computer savvy internet knowledge will expand exponentially.
The attached link will provide as much or as little as you need to respond to or allow you to pose the question "Who will Google buy next?"
Remember, slowly but surely, a little at a time and we'll be becoming internet savvy together.
Here's the link click here to take you to your information
Feeling a bit more or less happy now?
