PR Log (Press Release) – Jan 21, 2010 – Madison, WI - Memory loss (http://www.prevagen.com) vitamin, Prevagen, can help aging boomers remember their New Year’s resolutions along with improving other cognitive functions per a recent study. Improving brain health and memory loss may even be one the resolutions aging boomers are putting on their lists, but remembering their list of resolutions may be difficult.

A recent study by Quincy Bioscience titled “Prevagen Quality of Life Study” examined Prevagen’s impact on memory loss over a 90-day period. Study participants reported a reduction in forgetfulness, better word recall, less need for reminders, and improved overall memory.

“During the holidays when wonderful memories are made and resolutions for the New Year are set, it can be heart breaking when a family member is having memory loss difficulties,” says Mark Underwood, President and co-founder of Quincy Bioscience.

Underwood says memory loss begins to occur when the calcium-binding proteins that protect our brain cells deplete with age and too much calcium enters the neurons.

“Fortunately, Prevagen is able to provide a supplemental source of calcium-binding proteins to protect the brain cells, helping to restore calcium balance”, says Underwood. “Prevagen is the only all-natural brain vitamin that can replace these proteins and prevent memory loss.”

“The ‘Prevagen Quality of Life Study’ is one more study we’ve conducted with Prevagen showing the benefits a calcium-binding protein supplement on memory loss symptoms, by helping to keep brain cells alive which can result in a healthier brain, a sharper mind, clearer thinking and better memory.”

The “Prevagen Quality of Life Study” was an open-label study of 56 generally healthy participants over a 90-day period measuring changes in overall cognition, quality of sleep, energy, mood, pain, and general health.

The results of the study show improved performance across all parameters, illustrating that Prevagen provides a clear benefit in the area of memory, especially for those who reported having poor memory starting at Day 0 (baseline) of the trial.

Prevagen (10 mg) was taken daily by the trial participants. The study showed a statistically significant improvement in memory after 30 days. 57% of participants had improvement in general memory, 51% in retaining information, 84% in remembering driving instructions, and 66% in word recall. Sounds like a fascinating product, if a bit on the expensive side. Of course, its hefty price tag could certainly prove more than worth it in the long run, though it might be difficult for some to afford over $1 a capsule. Thanks for the info!

I think this one needs a bit more testing, Jeanne, let's wait and see.

It's likely that, as more testing is done and the supplement becomes more widely available (via multiple manufacturers), its price could go down. Let's hope so.
