Now it's Curry for the Brain: Brain health is tasting better and better.

tumeric for the brain - curry
Signature Tune

It would have been better if the writer of this article had edited it sufficiently well to distinguish between plagues and plaques.......there is a huge difference there.

But, apparently those who eat curries often, such as Indians, have a comparably much lower rate of risk for Alzheimer's than those who live in the US.

It seems the tumeric [alternative spelling turmeric] in curry is the secret and I feel sure that you do not want me to give you the chemical name for the molecule in the brain derived from tumeric, but it is thought that it helps clear plaques from the brain by boosting immune cells called macrophages which clear amyloid, a protein found in the plaques which cause Alzheimer's.

This is a progressive disease linked to ageing but this disease is not a normal part of ageing and not everyone will get it.

The following link
gives some really good information but there are possible inaccuracies.

However, for those wanting to know about this and other dementias, it is a useful reference as it is quite comprehensive.

Some readers will have more need of such information than others.

With an increasingly ageing population it is important to be aware and do everything one can to help prevent the disease.

If anyone has any comment they would like to leave it would be helpful.

Hey Katyzzz

Good thing I`m a Tumeric fan... becareful what you say... I will remember it in my old age.

While we are on the subject of remembering can I recommend you going to see the new movie 'Evening' ? ahhh it`s such a nice film.... if it`s still on when i come to see my brother I`ll take you to see it. We will go by train so we don`t risk the car breaking down!

Mis, Not everyone is a curry candidate, glad to see you're working on plan b. been for a walk this morning yet?

Watch that breakfast but you can have that coffee.

Don't forget the vegemite on toast and the juice, no bacon and eggs just a good cereal and a little bit of sugar if you're doing an exam straight afterwards.

katyzzz...best keep the red wine and chocolate until after dinner and the berries. Fish, of course?

No surprises here Katyzzz.

Having lived in India and still a cook of indian curries, I know the value of their Vedic diet...based on the three Ayurvedic principles and archetypes, curries are a food source that satisfies all taste buds : sweet, sour and salty.

Nothing like a good Tandoori, with a nice glass of red...especially on a cold winter's day.

Ooh Yunmnmo...

Lilla,

Good to hear I've got something right ha ha lol,

When it's cold it's certainly the way to go.

Yes, many people fall in love with India and their beliefs.

Good to see you, katyzzz
