The brains of 20 yr olds

20yr old brains

"When I go through an airport and pullout my knitting it's the 20-year-olds who are all over me."

From Zimbabwe, "the 16 year olds, 18 year olds, 20 year old youth who are involved in the militia who are given drugs and they carry out acts of violence".

"Written last year but its message is timeless… Made in the USA: Spoiled brats by Craig R. Smith."

"New Scientist has two articles of interest to mind and brain enthusiasts: one on gender identity disorder in adolescents, and the other on the psychological effects of modern media".

" Inside a Mass Murderer's Mind – “Cho Seung-Hui's rampage was the worst, but hardly the first. What have we learned about why such people kill?” See also: Scientists: You Can't Profile School Shooters.
~ The Brain May Use Only 20 Percent of Its Memory-Forming Neurons – Study shows that that pace at which a brain cell activates a key protein may influence its role in memory formation—a finding that could lead to new Alzheimer therapies.”

"What about the 22-year-old with depression who deliberately harms themselves"

"This body-mind interaction is what stimulates brain cells to grow and connect ... "There isn't much difference between a 25-year old brain and a 75-year old"

"The best way to keep a youthful mind may be to keep on playing games"

"The Developing Mind: How Relationships and the Brain Interact to Shape Who We ... be read at one sitting, but sifted slowly as you would a 20 year old port"

"Scientists have noted over the years a litany of consequences associated with underage drinking. According to Dr. Enoch Gordis, director of the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the list includes: "interference with learning, social, and other competencies, fatal traffic crashes, [alcohol-related] injuries, homicide, suicide, and early, more frequent, and less safe sexual activity."

We can now add to this list that evidence has shown that alcohol is actually damaging the brains of adolescents who drink heavily."

These are all snippets from the web, so 20 year olds should not feel so complacent about their brain activity.

katyzzz,
I have a beloved nephew who just turned 21 yesterday.
What can I say, without getting into too much trouble?
I think your painting says it all, sigh...
And, nephew, I was once 20 and 21 myself, someday I will tell you some stories...when you're safely past this age

Katyzzz,

looking back when I was 21 (err a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away lol) I remember always bein in trouble no matter who was really at fault!

But that picture surely represents what most 21 year olds feel like inside..

Great post and excellent artwork!

Take care,

Nick

Theresa and Nick,

Really insightful comments, if only the young would take note.

The remnants of what I fondly allude to as Adolescent Brain Disorder.
