"Experts say more and more workers in their 20s and 30s suffer from forgetfulness due to the flood of information that assaults them in the office and their growing dependency on digital devices. Some seek treatment in hospitals when the symptoms get worse. Doctors even have a name for it: Digital Alzheimer’s Disease, a condition they say now afflict modern urbanites just like migraine or insomnia."

Not wishing to steal anyone else's work I am providing the link

The article describes this threat to memory:

"Many factors play a part in young people’s forgetfulness. Experts blame the stress from excessive information. When it is overloaded with information or people suffer from anxiety and mental pressure, the brain can stop functioning properly. Depression, a widespread mental illness in modern society, is another cause of forgetfulness. Prof. Yeon Byeong-kil, at Hallym Medical Center said, “People with depression tend to forget because they become indifferent to circumstances and their thinking slows down.”

Digital devices mean people do not make as much effort to memorize things as they did in the past because a myriad of gadgets store information for them. Ubiquitous access to Internet is another cause to weakened memory. High tech gadgets such as Navigator, which are designed to support for people’s memory, in fact hamper their ability to remember things."

There are some very good examples given and it gives cause to think and to be aware of protecting your mental capabilities.

Such thought should allow you to make some adaptations to your life to avoid these problems occurring.

Just remember, it is not JUST the elderly who need to watch out for brain health.

Your comments would be appreciated.

I do concur and agree my dear. Its good work. My best friend works in the dementia ward of an aged care home, and tells me brain changes can happen as early as 20 and not be detected until old age.

Hi Katyzzz,

This is so true to for the young adults that the memory power is just getting less and less.

I for one is suffering short term memory. I can think of doing something at one point and a few seconds later, wondering what was I suppose to do when I actually get to the place, for example, I wanted to check on something at the Server's end, and yet when I went reached the server's room, when my colleagued asked me something. I forgot what I was there for.

Another major problem is that I keep forgetting where I put my things.

I believe as a systems supporter, my brain functions almost 24 hours working out logics and I too am a person who tends to stray to deep thoughts. My boss even sneered at me when I can't remember the things to do even though I have a PDA to store them in.

So this is really a great confirmation. Young ones, don't rely too much on the PDA or phones to store important things. Try to remember them and have the habit to read through your notes before starting the day, it could boost up your memory for the day. ^_^

Have a blessed day

Really pleased to have your comments and to hear what you have to say. J & K

Try to do a few things differently and to widen the scope of your brain activity, that should help.

Take an interest in something you are really not at all interested in and see the changes, plus WALK, it's one of the best brain exercises.

If you use your head often, try using your hands and vice versa.

I do hope I've been of some help.

Of course, Kleo has an 'unmentionable' and I know Jessicca has a good diet, these things are very important.

Love to you both.
